St. John Evangelical Lutheran
Church (UCC) is located in northeast Travis County at the street address
of: 17701 Cameron Road, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. It is a
member church of the denomination known as the "United Church of
Christ". It is located in the regional area known as the Brazos
Association of the South Central Conference. The roots of the congregation are in the Evangelical Lutheran background, the old denomination founded in Prussia (Germany) during the early 1800's, where many of the first settlers in the community originated. It holds yet to the doctrinal standards "expressed in the Heidelberg Catechism, Luther's Catechism, the Evangelical Catechism and the Augsburg Confession. Where there is differentiation, the liberty of conscience is permitted. However, the final authority is the Word of God accounted for in the Holy Scripture (Bible). It acknowledges the validity of three major creeds, the Apostle's Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the statement of faith of the United Church of Christ."1 Currently, St. John has a membership of 247 adults. The average attendance of the 10:15am worship service is 85. Sunday School, which begins at 9am, will sport an average of 40 participants of all ages.
